The Swan Supper Society

On 19th October 2005, the Swan Supper Society held its inaugural dinner.

The concept was simple: to encourage community spirit, and engage people on a social level, by forming a dining club that would meet every two weeks on a Wednesday. Visitors to The Swan were encouraged to join for free, with no obligation.

A set menu, three-course meal at £11 a head, with specially chosen wines at £10 a bottle, made pricing straightforward. The idea was a hit from the first event.

The Swan Supper Society has now met 97 times (in high season it meets on Tuesdays as well), with anything up to 65 people dining together at the same time, sharing the same delicious food and the same experience. At first, reservations were usually for two to four guests at a table. But now we have groups of up to 12 or more in regular attendance!
